2 out of 5 stars Good Price, Not durable   August 29, 2008

At $54.00 I thought I would give this pack a try. It has lots of room so I took it on a weekend trip up Mt. Shasta loaded with about 50 lbs of gear. The strap cinching the top compartment ripped the first day, and two buckles broke.
I replaced the buckles, and reinforced/sewed all the straps.
Took it on a 10 day - 114 mile trip from Mt.Katahdin to Monson Maine, the famed 100 mile wilderness. It kept my gear dry even though the rain cover was too small, I was loaded with 10 days of food; about 50 lbs of gear.
The main compartent with the front access was great until the zipper broke on the second day.
The side pockets are unusable if the main compartment is loaded too full.
The Zipper broke on one side pocket on the fifth day.
I did like the zippered compartments on my hip belt. They are good for a camera and map.
I would not reccommdend this to a friend. After two trips, and about three weeks of hiking, the pack needs to be replaced.
I guess you get what you pay for. I am going back to a Jansport or Osprey.
Saving $200 was not too comforting at 12,000feet (MT. Shasta) with broken buckles, or in the middle of the Maine wilderness with broke zippers which rendered the compartments useless.

5 out of 5 stars Great Pack for the $$$$   August 1, 2008

I recently purchased the ATI Tahoe85. I have to say that I was very skeptical at first due to the low price and from a brand I have not heard of. I have several very high-end packs from Osprey,Gregory,North Face and Kelty. This pack is amazing...it has tons of room for all your gear plus more if you choose...wouldn't recommend over-loading those packs folks! I am very pleased with the overall versatility of the pack. I especially like the zipper pockets on the waist belt. The come in handy for IPODs,Cell Phones, etc...The only negative thing I have found with the pack is the weight, it is a tad bit heavier than the higher-end packs. I have told several friends about this pack and they expressed interest in the pack. I will say this...I plan on purchasing more packs from ATI in the future. I will be purchasing the Sierra as well as the Rainier. Great pack...order one today!

I love this backpack. Its not as light as some of the other bags on the market but then again the other bags are about 3x the price. There are a lot of pockets and the ones on the waist straps are especially useful.
